This was the new battalion's first shake-down operation and took the form of an
airmobile move to search the Binh Ba Rubber Estate 15 miles north of Nui Dat, and to
check the identity of workers in the area - really a show of force. The operation was
not completed until dusk because of the heavy undergrowth encountered by D
Company during their approach. The battalion flew back to Nui Dat, being extracted
from two LZs, the last lift taking place in total darkness.
